Happy New Year! As we start a new year, many of us take time to reflect on the previous year and to set goals for the new year. If you are like me, you are looking forward to 2021 and to accomplishing a number of things, call them resolutions, goals or aspirations. If you know me, you know that I like for things to be neat and tidy. This includes everything from clearing my desk daily and making sure everything is filed away to cleaning up my kitchen after a meal so that it is ready for whatever or whoever may drop in next. When it comes to estate planning, there are a number of things that when organized, make it much easier on you and your family if and when your health fails. Some of the things you might consider doing in 2021 to be more organized might include the following:
- Reviewing you Estate Plan to ensure the people named as agents are able to serve.
- Pulling together a current list of all of your real property and financial assets.
- Pulling together a list of your insurance policies.
- Letting your family know where you keep your Estate Plan (Last Will and Testament, Trust, Advance Directive for Healthcare, Financial Power of Attorney).
- If you autopay any bills, a list of which bills, the typical amount and the login information to the associated account.
Having information like this in one place allows your loved ones to quickly find important information that may be needed if you are unable to manage your affairs or in the event of your demise.
This is a short list of information we have found helpful to our clients. We are happy to work with you to review your needs. Call Grissom Law, LLC at 678-781-9230 to schedule an appointment to meet with us. Let’s start 2021 off strong!
