During these trying times of quarantine and sheltering in place, it is important that we take stock of what we have and ways to keep our spirits up! If you are like us, many of you are working remotely or alternating days to cover the office and we are looking for things to do when not working while sheltering in place. If you are looking for ideas for things to do, here are a few:

  • Go for a walk – there are a lot of great trails and parks in Georgia, go explore! If you have children, consider making a walk a learning experience by pointing out all the trees, birds, and wildlife. The outside world is a natural playground from learning colors, numbers, and basic knowledge to more complex topics like biology, chemistry, and physics.
  • Find new recipes and try to make them – there are hundreds of thousands of cookbooks, social media, the general web, and recently some celebrity chefs have even taken to streaming cooking tutorials!
  • Consider starting a recipe exchange with friends. This is an opportunity to see what others are cooking and to stay in touch.
  • Take that delicious meal you made and pair it with a good movie. Catch up on all those TV shows, movies, documentaries, and chick flicks that you never had time for.
  • Call friends and family with Zoom or other video platforms. You can even have a happy hour, birthday party, or other celebration virtually.
  • Take the extra time to file that pile of paperwork, organize those cabinets, and update your electronic file.
  • While you are clearing up and out, take the time to review your estate plan, especially your Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney to determine if you need to update them.
  • Take a moment and indulge with a new book, a bath, a beer or glass of wine, some yoga or mediation, whatever helps you to take a breath and mentally stop paying attention to all the craziness out there.
  • Don’t forget to stay social! While we cannot be physically near our friends and family, or even enjoy those random conversations as much, it’s a great time to follow up with old friends and invest in our relationships.

Life may look a lot different these days, but there is still plenty to do! Enjoy the extra time and attention you can give all the details of your life. The important things are still there and the world will return to normal.
